An Interview With Josh Mizrahi, Global Head of Talent Acquisition at Adthena

An interview with By Josh Mizrahi, Global Head of Talent Acquisition at Adthena Published on August 14

Tell us your career path before you were in TA

Like many others in the industry, I happened to fall into the wonderful world of recruitment, first starting out in the education sector hiring teachers into secondary schools. After a couple of years in the public sector, and transitioning into digital/technology recruitment, I decided enough was enough and I wanted to pursue my no.1 on my bucket list, which was travelling around South East Asia.

After a 3-month hiatus (and running out of money!) and experiencing life in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, I decided upon my return that I wanted to start my career in TA.

From your personal experience what's the best thing about being in talent acquisition?

It's difficult to highlight one thing. However, naturally being someone who enjoys working with people and building relationships, it would have to be the day-to-day interactions with a wide variety of people, with different personalities, professions, career motivations, interests and the rest!

In a world evolving around AI/Tech, the ability to operate in a human-centric role and make a meaningful impact, is something I don't take for granted!

Since you've been in TA, how have you seen it change?

Since starting in TA, both my role has evolved significantly, alongside the industry. The role of a TA has become much more than 'putting bums on seats', but more multi-threaded and broad across strategy, EVP to candidate experience & how we measure quality of hires.

To date, AI and automation is the hot topic, and how do we adopt it in our recruitment strategies. The opportunity to work in an era where we have this type of technology is amazing. At the same time, I am a firm believer in having a human approach in any recruitment process, which I believe will make companies stand out from the crowd.

How do you see AI impacting the future of talent acquisition?

I see AI making TA teams much more lean, and inherently more productive. Having several tools at our disposal will help us become more efficient, from automating processes, leveraging AI note-taking tools, etc.

On the flip side, while AI is here to support us, I truly believe having a human touch is what will separate those from the crowd, and will continue to contribute to building real relationships and providing a positive candidate experience. Ultimately, it's about having the right balance in the hiring process.

What advice would you give to job seekers today?

Don't lose faith in people, and the power of networking! Being able to connect with existing and foster new relationships, could open up new pathways/opportunities in the future.
