Tell us your career path before you were in TA
Before I began my career in Talent Acquisition, I was actually working with the NYPD for a bit.
From your personal experience what's the best thing about being in talent acquisition?
One of the best parts of working in Talent Acquisition is the opportunity to connect with so many different people every day. I genuinely enjoy learning about each person's unique background, experiences, and career journey. That human connection is what makes this work so engaging and meaningful for me as it’s never just about filling a role, it’s about building relationships and helping people take the next step in their careers.
Since you've been in TA, how have you seen it change?
Since I started in TA, one of the most significant changes I’ve seen is the rise of AI and automation in the hiring process. Tasks that were once time-consuming—like sourcing or scheduling—are now much more efficient thanks to AI-powered tools. While I incorporate AI into my workflow almost daily, I intentionally avoid using it for resume screening or candidate communication, as I strongly believe in maintaining a personal, human-centered approach. This shift has encouraged us to be more strategic in how we leverage technology—finding the right balance between efficiency and empathy. It’s incredible to see how much the space has evolved over the course of my career.
How do you see AI impacting the future of talent acquisition?
I’ve noticed more and more processes becoming both automated and personalized through technology. While I’m a big supporter of these advancements, I hope recruiters and TA professionals continue to prioritize the human touch. Technology can enhance our work, but it’s the personal connection that truly makes the experience meaningful for both candidates and hiring teams.
What advice would you give to job seekers today?
Network, network, network! It’s so important to make a consistent effort to connect with new people whether that’s virtually through platforms like LinkedIn or in person at industry events. Building and nurturing relationships can open doors, spark new ideas, and create opportunities you might not expect.
