Tell us your career path before you were in TA

I began my career in a private sector bank as a fresher. We worked all seven days of the week, and while it was demanding, the experience was enjoyable and enriching, especially at that stage of my life. Over time, I gained a deeper understanding of what a job truly means and how it shapes one’s career path. This clarity motivated me to pursue an MBA, after which I made a decisive shift into the field of Human Resources—a domain where I’ve found my true calling :)

From your personal experience what's the best thing about being in talent acquisition?

Being in HR has given me the opportunity to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and personalities. There’s immense fulfilment in being a part of someone’s professional journey and making a positive impact on their lives

Since you've been in TA, how have you seen it change?

Yeah, I’ve witnessed a noticeable shift in workplace attitudes and candidate behaviour.

In the earlier days, the environment was more emotionally driven. If you reached out to someone with a job opportunity, you were often seen as a well-wisher—almost like an Angel—offering hope. Candidates would invest emotionally, expressing deep gratitude and going the extra mile to build lasting professional relationships.

Today, the landscape is more pragmatic. People understand that recruiters are also doing their jobs. The interaction is respectful, but there’s less emotional investment. If a role doesn’t work out, candidates tend to quickly move on and explore other avenues without dwelling on the outcome.

Both approaches reflect the evolving nature of work and mindsets. It’s been insightful to navigate and adapt to these generational changes in the talent space.

How do you see AI impacting the future of talent acquisition?

AI has undoubtedly elevated the talent acquisition landscape, bringing efficiency, speed, and data-driven insights to the forefront. However, recruitment will always require a human touch. While technology can streamline processes, the nuances of understanding people, assessing cultural fit, and building meaningful connections remain deeply human aspects that no algorithm can fully replace.

What advice would you give to job seekers today?

Never walk away from a recruitment process by ghosting a Talent Acquisition professional. A great deal of effort goes into identifying, evaluating, and coordinating to ensure the right match for a role. When a candidate gets selected, it’s the result of extensive behind-the-scenes work. Respecting the process and maintaining communication is a simple yet powerful way to acknowledge that effort.
