Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Technical Product Manager to join our remote team. This role combines deep technical expertise in cloud infrastructure with comprehensive knowledge of video advertising standards (VAST) and real-time bidding protocols (OpenRTB). The ideal candidate will drive product strategy and execution for our cloud-based advertising technology solutions.
The Technical Product Manager will serve as the bridge between engineering teams and business stakeholders, ensuring successful delivery of scalable, high-performance products that handle millions of requests per second while maintaining compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Technical Leadership
- Define and execute product roadmaps for cloud infrastructure and advertising technology solutions
- Lead technical product strategy leveraging expertise in distributed systems, micro-services architecture, and cloud-native technologies
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define technical specifications and architecture decisions for high-scale systems
- Drive implementation of scalable cloud infrastructure solutions handling high-volume, low-latency real-time bidding environments
- Ensure product designs incorporate best practices for cloud security, compliance, and cost optimisation
VAST & Video Advertising Expertise
- Lead product development for video advertising infrastructure ensuring full compliance with IAB VAST specifications (versions 2.0-4.1)
- Design and oversee implementation of video ad serving solutions supporting linear, non-linear, and companion ad formats
- Collaborate with engineering teams to build robust video ad delivery systems handling VAST XML parsing and validation
- Work with business teams to ensure VAST implementation meets requirements of major DSPs and SSPs
OpenRTB & Real-Time Bidding
- Drive development of OpenRTB-compliant systems facilitating seamless communication between supply and demand platforms
- Lead design and implementation of bid request/response handling systems processing JSON-formatted OpenRTB messages at scale
- Ensure OpenRTB implementation supports latest specifications and advanced features including first-price auctions
- Optimise bid processing latency to meet industry standards (sub-100ms response times)
- Define auction logic, floor pricing mechanisms, and yield optimisation strategies within OpenRTB framework
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with engineering, business development, and operations teams to ensure successful product delivery
- Translate complex technical concepts into business value propositions for stakeholders
- Manage complete product lifecycle from ideation through launch and ongoing optimisation
- Define and track KPIs including technical metrics such as latency, throughput, and availability
Desired Qualifications / Experience
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field; Master's degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in technical product management with focus on cloud infrastructure or advertising technology
- Proven track record of successfully launching technical products serving millions of users or handling high-volume transactions
- Experience working with agile development methodologies and cross-functional engineering teams
- Previous experience in cloud infrastructure, programmatic advertising, or video advertising technology preferred
Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and core services
- Hands-on experience with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and micro-services architecture
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Understanding of cloud security best practices, compliance frameworks, and cost optimisation strategies
- Proficiency in reading and understanding code in multiple programming languages (Python, Java, JavaScript, Go)
- Experience with API design, RESTful services, and system integration patterns
- Knowledge of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and data pipeline architectures
Industry Knowledge
- Comprehensive knowledge of IAB VAST specifications (versions 3.0-4.1) and practical implementation requirements
- In-depth understanding of OpenRTB specifications (versions 2.5+) and real-time bidding protocols
- Experience with programmatic advertising ecosystems including DSPs, SSPs, ad exchanges, and DMPs
- Understanding of video advertising ecosystem including ad servers, video players, and content management systems
- Knowledge of JSON data structures and API design principles for high-frequency trading systems
- Familiarity with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and their impact on programmatic advertising
- Understanding of video encoding standards, streaming protocols, and adaptive bitrate technologies

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience in data-driven decision making
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority
- Experience presenting to executive leadership and external clients or partners
- Strong project management skills with experience using tools such as Jira or similar platforms
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team environment across multiple time zones
