The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) will define and lead Tinuiti's investment vision, shaping how the agency partners with influential media platforms and leverages emerging technologies to drive client growth. This role unites investment strategy, commercial partnership development, and media innovation across television, streaming, audio, digital, and display. The CIO will evolve Tinuiti's buying and partnership ecosystem into a strategic advantage, integrating performance marketing principles with premium media access. This leader will embody Tinuiti's ethos to Love Growth, Hate Waste - balancing bold investment with disciplined efficiency.
Investment Strategy & Performance Leadership
- Oversee a portfolio exceeding $1 billion in annual media billings and a team of 70+ investment professionals.
- Define and lead Tinuiti’s multi-channel investment strategy across television, streaming, audio, digital, and display.
- Lead strategic relationships with global media platforms and publishers (Disney, NBCUniversal, Amazon, Warner Bros. Discovery, YouTube, and others).
- Represent Tinuiti in Upfront and annual negotiations, securing advantageous access, pricing, and innovation opportunities.
- Develop and operationalize modern partnership models that align Tinuiti’s performance-first philosophy with premium media ecosystems.
- Cultivate senior-level relationships that elevate Tinuiti’s standing as a top independent investment partner.
- Identify partnership innovations that create new forms of enterprise value — including co-development, data collaboration, and alternative monetization opportunities
- Leverage established C-suite relationships to influence outcomes and secure Tinuiti’s reputation as a premier investment partner.
- Develop forward-looking partnership models that integrate Tinuiti’s performance-first DNA into traditional investment structures.
Performance Strategy & Financial Governance
- Integrate forecasting, analytics, and measurement frameworks (e.g., Bliss Point) into investment decision-making to ensure accuracy, transparency, and accountability.
- Establish buying guardrails and governance models that drive rate integrity and ROI accountability.
- Collaborate with Finance and Business Operations to manage investment forecasting, spend visibility, and contribution margin performance.

- Institutionalize test-and-learn methodologies to continuously improve investment outcomes and reduce cost-to-serve.
- Translate market dynamics and performance data into actionable insights that inform client strategies and enterprise decision-making.
Organizational Leadership & Talent Development
- Build and scale a high-performing investment organization with clear accountability, process discipline, and operational agility.
- Design an operating model for consistent excellence across diverse buying mechanisms: programmatic, direct insertion order (IO), and hybrid.
- Establish clear role definitions, leadership layers, and workflows that enable scale without bureaucracy, ensuring every investment professional operates with clarity and purpose aligned to client priorities.
- Recruit, mentor, and coach senior leaders who model Tinuiti’s values of ownership, transparency, and speed, ensuring consistency in execution and accountability across all teams.
Client Leadership
- Apply senior-level client leadership experience to guide renewal and expansion strategies.
- Partner with Client Leaders to support cross-sell opportunities by providing commercial validation, financial modeling, and resourcing options.
- Engage in renewal conversations directly with clients to ensure scope, profitability, and long-term sustainability are protected.
- Serve as a trusted partner to Client Delivery leadership in client health monitoring, risk mitigation, and escalation management.
- Ensure commercial decisions are aligned with both client satisfaction and Tinuiti’s financial performance.
Technology, Measurement & Innovation
- Define the investment technology roadmap, ensuring Tinuiti’s tools and systems evolve to support data accuracy, spend visibility, and performance optimization across all channels and buying mechanisms.
- Collaborate with internal teams to connect investment data and client reporting, ensuring unified, real-time visibility into financial and performance outcomes.
- Champion the adoption of AI-driven optimization and predictive analytics to enhance decision-making, automate workflows, and identify emerging investment opportunities.
- Maintain accountability for the integrity and transparency of all investment data — ensuring it can be confidently used for forecasting, client reporting, and strategic decision-making.
- Stay ahead of shifts in the media and technology landscape — including programmatic evolution, identity resolution, privacy frameworks, and addressable media innovation — to ensure Tinuiti remains at the forefront of performance-led investment.
Client & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate closely with leaders across Client Delivery, Strategy, Finance, Analytics, and Product.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on market dynamics, partner relationships, and media investment trends impacting Tinuiti’s portfolio.
- Represent Tinuiti externally with credibility and purpose — engaging with senior executives at media platforms, industry events, and innovation forums to reinforce Tinuiti’s position as the independent performance agency of record.
Required Experience & Skills
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in media investment, buying strategy, or commercial partnerships.
- Proven success managing large-scale media portfolios ($1B+) and leading senior investment teams.
- Deep fluency in investment systems, pricing structures, and partnership models, including programmatic and IO-based buying, financial reconciliation, and contract governance.
- Demonstrated ability to modernize legacy investment processes.
- Track record of executive-level negotiation and relationship management with top global publishers, platforms, and networks.
- Exceptional leadership and talent development capability — building organizations that combine commercial discipline, innovation, and client obsession.
- A change-oriented mindset that thrives in growth environments and builds scalable systems.
The annual base salary range for this roles' listed level is currently $200,000-$250,000 plus performance bonus of up to (30%). Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data.
