Role Objective
This role is designed to lead the strategic direction of all Retail Media planning and activation across the Unilever account, ensuring rigorous test and learn to develop both onsite and offsite business growth, driving forward best practice in activation channels and leading a team of Retail Media practitioners working across a range of retailer partners and platforms, encompassing grocery, health and beauty, quick commerce and bid management platforms Criteo and Citrus.
About the role
The Retail Media Strategist role will have a deep interest and appreciation for the uniqueness of retail and marketplaces, and use their expertise to deliver excellence in biddable retail media platforms, on-retailer and off-retailer data led offerings. They will ensure seamless integration of performance-led retail media efforts into a holistic commerce and brand strategy, delivering best-in-class results for clients.
This role will lead a a cross-functional team and oversee, inform, shape, and implement the most advanced performance-led strategies and solutions to unlock new growth opportunities across retail media ad ecosystems, for Unilever and other CPG clients within the agency.
This role will partner with our clients to translate their business objectives into campaign strategies andtest and learn opportunities, drive integration across commerce media channels and activities to maximize client outcomes, and leverage data and tools to drive effective optimization based on campaign parameters. An entrepreneurial spirit with a bias for action and problem-solving is necessary to be successful in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Defining and agreeing ways of working with the Strategy and Planning teams across brand campaigns inc direction for Brand briefs to Exchange and provision of Retail Media info for media responses.
- Embedding retailer data within Unilever brand campaigns by collaborating with holistic strategists, media planners and activation teamson targeting and buyable audiences using retailer data
- Work closely with Group M on testing of new retailer data and targeting capabilities
- Working with clients to plot the annual strategy for each Business Unitand brand, ensuring objectives can be translated into media deliverables
- Collaborating with Live Planner to ensure due diligence on measurement of data driven brand campaigns
- Tracking and evaluating retailer maturity
- Working with activation teams to synthesize key data points, identify trends, and recommend activities to maximize business results and deliver an optimal customer experience.
- Ensuring documentation/banking of key learnings which can be applied to other retailers/future campaigns
- Driving tools utilisation to support planning, reporting, optimisation and automation
- Raise the profile of Mindshare's retail media team through events/ speaking opportunities
- Maintaining excellent relationships with key account stakeholders to maximize promotional opportunities and assist them in navigating the Commerce activation landscape
- Staying up to date on changing marketplace dynamics surrounding ad products, technology, and measurement across all media touchpoints within the retail media ecosystem.

About you
- Historical experience in media activation, ideally including Citrus and Criteo platforms
- Understanding of retail commercial elements such as profit margin, inventory levels, forecasting, and demand planning to inform media decisions.
- Understanding of how different media channels work together and retail partners’ advertising ecosystem.
- Strong drive to understand the retail landscape and latest trends in Commerce Media.
- Experience with retail bid management platforms, ideally Pacvue.
- Experience with digital shelf tools such as Data Impact, Profitero, Gradient or similar
- Experience with retailer planning tools
- Experience working with retailers to derive insights, ideally working with Dunhumby and Nectar 360 to use insights to fuel planning and test and learn
- Experience managing a team of direct reports
- Experience across the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- A self-starter attitude that thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent project-management skills; able to coordinate projects across multiple teams and functions.
